These are an upgrade from a snowshoe, commonly used for backcountry snowboarding or pow surfing.  A great way to ascend with more glide and speed compared to snowshoes and light and compact enough to strap to your pack and snowboard downhill.

Really fun and better substitute to snowshoes.
